Iceland Volcano Eruption Update; Large Eruption Begins, Lava Flowing Towards Blue Lagoon
A large volcanic eruption just began on Iceland s populated Reykjanes peninsula, sending lava flows towards the Blue Lagoon the Svartsengi Geothermal Power Plant. While these two regions are protected by lava walls, lava is still likely to block off two major roads. Currently, a 4 kilometer or approximately 13, 000 foot long fissue is erupting lava along its entire length at a high rate. This eruption is likely to continue for at least another 7 days, as discussed in today s video. Thumbnail Photo Credit: Frame grab from the afarTV livestream at Used with Permission.
