Strap Carry
The Strap Carry is a traditional carry used in South America and Asia to carry a baby on the back of the wearer. The traditional carry uses a length of cloth approximately six to ten inches wide to support under the arms and lift the legs of the child being worn. Western babywearers have used woven wraps to mimic the traditional strap carry either folding the wrap along the width or using bunched passes. The western version of the carry is used for babies who can support their upper body reasonably well and are accustomed to an arms out carry. It is important to make sure the passes are tight but do not put pressure under the arms. We like the strap carry for the summer when wrapping around baby s back and my body could insulate heat making wearing uncomfortable. The ladies love this carry for the freedom of movement they have while remaining worn.
