NAMWALA MONZE FLOODS

Southern Province Permanent Secretary NAMANI MONZE has called for an immediate evacuation of families in Namwala and Monze districts that have been displaced due to flooding following heavy rains being experienced in the province. Dr. MONZE says this has to be done as a matter of urgency to save lives. The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit DMMU has conducted an aerial survey of the flooded areas in Namwala and Monze Districts using a Zambia Air Force Helicopter. The aerial survey has shown that several villages remain submerged in water and that if the families are not evacuated there is a possible threat to their lives.
