The Derby Alternative Version (1920)
This is one of two stories about the Derby. This version is similar except that it puts more emphasis on the races whilst the other concentrates more on the spectators journey to and from the Derby. M, S of a bookie next to a black board. More shots of the police escorting the winning jockey through the crowd. Good L, S of the race in progress the horses come round the bend producing a cloud of dust, as they pass horses of spectators spill onto the course. M, S of a large sign promoting Joe Lee being dismantled. M, S of people leaving the race on foot, bicycle and horse and cart. M, S of the horses lining up at the start of the race. Good M, S of horses racing past the camera. Some general shots of the spectators and the stands as the horses pass. Great high angled shots of the horses racing past a section of the crowd we see a man taking a photograph and men shaking hands and patting each other on the back (their horse obviously came in first ).
