In 1936, the Christmas song Hohe Nacht der klaren Sterne was written by the National Socialist poet and musician Hans Baumann. Baumann was involved in the Reichsjugendführung, an organization that oversaw the activities of children and youth in Jungvolk, Hitlerjugend and Bund Deutscher Mädel.
