Restoration Old Rusty Bayonet K98
Hello folks Today I want to show you my new restoration project. I found this old rusty Mauser bayonet K98 at flea market. The condition of the knife was very bad. I m sure it s been in the ground for a very long time. The bayonet was completely covered with deep potholes and pits due to the high level of rust. The scabbard and suspension were also missing. But I m ready to restore it. Restoration process: No object has been so long in the rust and dirt removal fluid as this bayonet knife. Then I washed it and left it in the oil for a long time. But this did not help to unscrew the bolts and nuts. With a drill, I removed the old bolts, opening the handle inside the hit sink plate. I used tin to fill the big holes in it. The bakelite handle pads were in good condition. After with angle grinder machine and iron brushes I cleaned some dirty place and patina from a knife. Then I corrected the cutting edge andthe edge of the blade. I used new bolts and nuts, and rounded the nuts to
