CagnessurMer is a medieval town situated on the French Riviera, between SaintLaurentduVar and VilleneuveLoubet, only 9 miles (15 km) away from Nice and 14 miles (23 km) away from Cannes. LeHautdeCagnes is the medieval part of the town and is famous for its castle which was built in the 14th century by Rainier Ier Gribaldi. The part of the city by the seaside started to expand rapidly from the 19th century onward with the settlement of fishermen from Menton.
