Lacan on fantasy (2 of 9): Giving shape to sexuality
With some help from Slavoj Zizek and Laplanche Pontalis, we explore the multiple (conscious and unconscious) levels of fantasy. Freud makes an appearance, as we consider how the psychosexual stages might help us think about the schooling of the libido. We maintain a double frame of reference throughout referring both to the domain of sexuality and the sociopolitical realm and draw on a reflection from Nelson Mandela to consider how fantasy is often both highly individual and nonetheless sociallyshared, stereotypical.
