Charlie Drake (1962)
London. Various shots show a man standing at a table before a small audience of women; he shows them how to make stage custard pies. He takes several sticks of shaving soap covered in silver paper onto the table and cuts slivers of the soap into a bowl. He adds water then whisks the mixture up, adding food colouring to make it pink. Two other men are seen testing the consistency of the foamy custard; the mixture is seen on paper plates as someone adds a dollop of green gunge to the centre. A brief sequence shows Charlie Drake and another man, dressed as chefs, having a custard pie fight in front of a stage bakery. The sequence is cut and we see only a few seconds of it. Note: this story is cut towards the end and is out of synch throughout; there is no print. FILM A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
