Baby flying foxes flapping on the airer: Baldrick and Piccolo
Daily life clips: Baldrick, the most recent and youngest of my babies, makes an appearance for some playtime on the airer. Baldrick is a Black FlyingFox (pteropus alecto) orphan who was found on his dead mum 5 days ago. After an initial slow and difficult few days in care, he s cheered up and is feeding well and asserting his independence. He s always out of his wraps in the incubator in the morning and he s an octopus to wrangle. He still has a bare belly and hasn t yet started thermoregulating, so he only hangs on the airer for a few minutes to stretch and do flappies, then back to bed in the incubator to keep him warm. He s now 2. 5 weeks old. Piccolo is 4. 5 weeks old now and has started to assert his independence as well. He is on the airer for a few hours per day though back to bed for the nights. The other babies are Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (yes, she s the one I forgot), Uffish (Fish), Juniper, Eiffel, Inky Pinky, and our new little boy Blackadd
