Saturn V liftoff ( Apollo 12) 1969 Atlas Centaur explosion 1962 Koyaanisqatsi
Koyaanisqatsi: Finale The rocket sequence is actually two different rockets. The rocket leaving the launch pad is the Saturn V carrying Apollo 12 to the moon in 1969. The 1962 AtlasCentaur explosion was an unmanned test failure but Scott Carpenter launched on MercuryAtlas 7 just 16 days later At the time Koyaanisqatsi was made there had never been astronauts killed by a spacecraft exploding, so editing a successful manned launch to look like a failure is interesting. Rocket: Saturn V SA507 (Project Apollo 12) Spacecraft: Apollo CSM108, Apollo LM6 Launch date: November 14, 1969 Landing date: November 24, 1969 Mission Successfully Completed Apollo 12 was the sixth manned flight in the United States Apollo program and the second to land on the Moon (an H type mission).
