Digging Graves. Location of events unknown France A few French soldiers enter from left; walk along snowy road near ruined building pan on them walking rt. on road; with stone wall in BG. They stop at grave in FG with cross marker; and 1 officer lays wreath on marker. Like a small graveside funeral or memorial ceremony. They all stand straight salute; then turn; walk away back toward the old stone buildings; wagon in front. Shot looking straight ahead at steps built along hillside; supported by small branches. Soldiers appear from top; descending several carry shovels; they walk down past camera. Pan left; looking over steep slope with many bare bushes; can see soldiers at bottom of screen from shoulders up can see that they re digging. World War One; casualties. Grave digging. Death.
