Peripeteia Lilijana Maticevska Op. 9 No. 1 Lilijana Maticevska studied guitar with Dan McKay throughout secondary school and later at the MCM. Lilijana wrote this piece for him in 2018 for performance in the Melbourne Guitar Festival s Australian Composers Hour recital, consisting of new and recent Australian works for solo guitar. Lilijana writes the great thing about composing for a musician Ive known for years, seen practising, noodling around, talked about music with and watched in concert many many times over, is that I already had a great idea of what suits his musical personality and what sounds great on his instrument the way he plays it. My job as a composer, after all, is to provide music for musicians that can really allow them to perform their best in concert or in recording.
