Teacher and student brawl over Palestinian flag

A confrontation between a student and teacher turned to blows after an argument erupted over a Palestinian flag. The incident at Berlin s ErnstAbbe school, which has a substantial Palestinian cohort, led to violence when a student refused a teachers request to put away a Palestinian flag after removing it from his backpack. The altercation, captured on video and widely shared on social media, saw the teacher slapping the student and the student responding with a kick to the stomach, although the inept camerawork leaves much of the fight obscured. According to police statements, the teacher alleges that the fight started when the student headbutted him, and the slap was selfdefense, although this alleged incident was not visible in the video. The students family have rejected the teachers claim that this was selfdefense.
