Rapidly Growing Sunspot May Threaten Earth With Flares and Solar Storms December 20. 2023
A tiny spot on the sun s surface grew over the past 24 hours more than double the size of Earth, potentially threatening our planet with radio blackoutcausing solar flares and plasma eruptions that could trigger aurora displays. Now turning to face Earth, sunspot AR3529 is growing rapidly and it has a betagamma magnetic field that poses a threat for strong Mclass solar flares. Geoeffective explosions are likely this week.
