Il cavaliere di bronzo
Pietro il Grande creò, SanPietroburgo ma fu il poeta A. ,Pushkin a traghettarla dalla leggenda al mito. Il poema Il cavaliere di bronzo è ispirato alla celebre statua dello scultore francese Falconet: lo zar, con il braccio proteso, scruta con orgoglio la città da lui fondata, dal dorso di un cavallo impennato che rappresenta la, Russia E questa ambiguità a colpire già i contemporanei: la Russia, pur di non lasciarsi spingere in avanti dalle riforme di Pietro il Grande, si è imbizzarrita. Anche oggi, come allora, ci sono temi scottanti, perlopiù imposti dallOccidente, a dividere questo paese tra passato e futuro.
