Zelensky s reception in US a lot frostier than last time
Volodymyr Zelenskys reception in Washington this time is a lot frostier than his last visit, says Sky News US contributor Michael Ware. The Ukrainian Presidents visit comes as he attempts to garner more support in fighting against Russias invasion. Whats at play here, is the Biden administration has proposed a 24 billion military aid package to the Ukrainians to help in fighting, Mr Ware told Sky News Australia. Mr Ware said an ultraconservative and influential clique within the Republican party is holding up support for the package. For example, the Republican leader Kevin McCarthy last year wore a Ukrainian lapel pin right now, today he will not even be in a photograph with the Ukrainian President. Why Because this small clique holds enormous power over him, because under the terms of him getting his Speakership they insisted that it would only take one member to stand up and force a spill of his leadership.
