Dover Farmers (1942)
Dover farmers. Kent. Various shots as soldiers drive through Dover countryside in jeeps. Various shots of ships nearby and explosions in the sea. Camera pans across farm run by Gilbert Mitchell and his wife. M, S of them chatting to a reporter and pointing out all the damage caused by the shells. Mrs Mitchell s sister Grace Harrison drives up on a tractor, she has been awarded the British Empire Medal for bravery in carrying on during the dangerous conditions. Various shots showing the windows blown out and barn roof damaged. Grace wheels out a barrow full of shell splinters. Various shots as they plough and plant on the land. Land girls pick the potatoes.
