A former member of the prestigious Dairakudakan Butoh group, Amok is a key figure in pushing the art of Butoh into a modern Japanese lifestyle and conveying the depth behind it. Contrary to most other forms of dance that focus on looking up to the heavens, Butoh leverages the performer s gravitational connection to the earth and a physical response to the world around him, responding in a primal and visceral way that, whilst abstract, is compelling in its honesty to human nature.
