Elvis Presley Johnny B. Goode 30 March 1972 Mock Studio Session Re edited with new Audio
The first of the three rehearsal sessions for MGM s 1972 movie Elvis On Tour on 30 March 1972 took the form of a mock recording session which was intended to give the audience an impression of being a fly on the wall at an Elvis recording session. Very little of this session finally made the final edit of the movie with only footage of Elvis performing Separate Ways was finally seen although footage of Always On My Mind could be seen in This Is Elvis in 1981. Johnny B. Goode however, did make it into the movie as the audio of take, 3 was played over the opening credits with the video consigned to the cutting room floor. Filming seems to have only begun at this point which was more than half way through the session and therefore the previous two takes, both false starts, do not appear to have been filmed. As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the reedited audio, I highly recommend you use ear, headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare
