Chris Acker The Growing Boys, Big Idea, , Gems On VHS
Chris Acker was the first person Casper Allen introduced me to when we arrived in New Orleans. I d be staying at Sister St. , the name of the house in which he and his friends lived. It had been the former residence of one Pat Reedy, the legendary New Orleans alumni now in Nashville. The stories I d heard all seemed on track to be true a place of debauchery, authentic songwriting, world class music, wild roosters and all night jams. Chris in particular is a songwriter, to be sure. He s humble, one would almost say wholesome. Unassuming even. Once he starts picking his tunes though, it s impossible not to have a John Prine comparison spring to mind. His songs are funny if not true, hopeful if not painfully relevant. This one, Big Idea, with lines like you made it seem a crime to want just you, reflects 21st century relationships all too well. His Growing Boys quickly grew on me too a fine and fun gang all in all. Find more at, Want to learn how to play this song Check out the
