Flash flood in Kastamonu, Bartın, Karabük and Sinop, Turkey Natural disaster on August 13, 2021 Flooding caused by unusually heavy rainfall is devastating Turkey s northern coastline, demolishing bridges and leaving villages without electricity. The flooding came after some of the largest wildfires in the country s history spread across the southwest of the country. Thirteen people were also affected by the collapse of the Bartin bridge and power outages in 12 villages, according to the Disaster and Disaster Administration. As footage from Reuters showed, in Sinop province, 240 km east of Bartin, a house collapsed due to flooding and cars were stuck in the water. a hospital is being evacuated and some roads in Sinop closed, warning that heavy rains in the area are expected to continue.
