Kamaycha player Basu Khan at Jaisalmer Gadsisar Lake
Recorded at Gadsisar Lake, Jaisalmer, February 2008. Basu Khan is from the Manganiyar musician caste. He plays the Kamaycha instrument, which is something like a desert cello with droning snares. The song is Gorband, which is a symbolic song about marriage decoration of the bride as gorband literally means the decoration of the camel. For Rajasthani s, this symbolism has a double meaning in regards to marriage and their livestock.
