Last Trip of the Season for Elk at Slippery Ann
I decided to take one last trip this fall to photograph elk at the Slippery Ann Viewing Area on the C. M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge along the Missouri River in Central Montana. I had not planned on making another trip this year (this was my 3rd, ) but I just happened to have a free afternoon and I figured the leaves were probably just about in their prime fall colors. The elk were still very active and there was still lots to see. The afternoon we went was unseasonable warm so we watched the elk for about an hour as they just lay in the shade before they finally got to their feet and started putting on a show. I was able to capture some pretty good photographs as I tried to concentrate on including the fall colors as well. I am already looking forward to going back next year.
