The oil giant said in a January 25, 2022, statement that the deposits will yield daily outputs of 874 barrels of crude oil and 1. 093 million cubic metres of natural gas. Sinopec says new wells tapped ultradeep fault zones discovered in 2016, which are at high pressure and temperature, making them among the worlds most difficult to explore. Sinopec said that in line with Chinas ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by about 2060, the company has also started building the worlds largest green hydrogen plant. Entirely powered by solar energy, the facility in Kuqa in western Xinjiang is expected to start production in June 2023, and will be the worlds largest such facility producing about 23, 900 cubic metres of hydrogen per year.
