Wild Goffins cockatoos use tool sets, Curr. Biol. , Aug. 31, 2021 ( Vol. 31, Issue 20)
The use of different tools to achieve a single goal was so far only known in primates. Here, we show how two wild Goffin s cockatoos (Cacatua goffiniana) use two distinct tool manufacture methods, producing a set of tools to extract seed matter of a tropical fruit. This finding diversifies the phylogenetic landscape of technology and implies convergent evolution of advanced tool use in parrots and primates. Check out the paper at M. OHara, B. Mioduszewska, R.
