Sinister Footwear II by Frank Zappa, performed by The Naked Eye Ensemble
Tribeca New Music presents the NakedEye ensemble performing Jerome Kitzke s Mad Coyote Madly Sings, at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, NYC. The music in Frank Zappas Sinister Footwear IIappeared in several contexts in his output, including as a part of a threemovement ballet and within the live set of his touring bands in the late 70s. Zappas music calls for a unique kind of mastery, of rhythmic complexity in a grooveoriented, driving rhythmic context. The taut unison rhythms, overlapping percolating loops, and whammy barinfused guitar solo in Mike Bitts 2015 arrangement for NakedEye capture the enthusiasm for eclecticism that characterized Zappa and his cohort. NakedEye The NakedEye Ensemble: JuPing Song, piano; Matthew Angelo, flute; Christy Banks, clarinet; Ryan Kauffman, saxophone; Daniel Lippel, guitar; Andy Thierauf, percussion; Peter Kibbe, cello; Mike Bitts, bass.
