Grand Western Canal Basin Home to the last horse drawn barge in the Westcountry ( Tiverton, Devon)
The Grand Western Canal Basin is located in Tiverton, Devon in the United Kindom. It is home to the last horsedrawn barge in the Westcountry in which you can take a ride down the canal and enjoy the beautiful Devon countryside. The canal used to run between Taunton in Somerset and Tiverton but now it only goes so far down the canal and then turns around which still makes for a lovely and relaxing journey. The canal had its origins in various plans, going back to 1796, to link the Bristol Channel and the English Channel by a canal, bypassing Lands End.
