JR Central s longawaited nextgeneration Shinkansen; the N700S is scheduled to begin operation in summer 2020. The new N700S makes use of stateoftheart technology to enhance safety, convenience, and comfort. Changes include the addition of lithiumion batteries, used to power an emergency selfpropulsion system, and a fully active vibration control system, installed to improve the comfort of the ride.
