Dior Celebrates International Dance Day with Nuit Romaine
Roman Night by choreographer Angelen Preljocaj, the costumes for the film were created by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the creative director for the house of Dior. The actions of the Roman Night unfold in the ancient Palazzo Farnese, where the French Embassy has been located for more than a century. The main roles are performed by Eleonora Abbagnato formerly Etoile with the Paris Opera and Friedemann Vogel premier with the Stuttgart Ballet. According to the choreographer s idea, Nyx, the goddess of the night, dances and meets in the palace halls, church dignitaries, dukes and noble ladies who have been guests here during the Renaissance. I was inspired by artists who use their bodies in different ways, experimenting with dance techniques and working on aesthetics that should also be functional. And I believe in the power of interchange between two worlds: the world of fashion and the world of ballet, Chiuri says.
