Mondo New York
Mondo New York examines the lives and activities of Manhattan performance artists, and features Joey Arias and Rick Aviles. A number of New York City denizens appear in various sketches, each linked by a young woman s exploration of the city. Other performers include Charlie Barnett, Joe Coleman, Phoebe Legere, Karen Finley, Lydia Lunch, Veronica Vera, Frank Moore, and Ann Magnuson. The film was produced by Harvey Keith and Stuart S. Shapiro in 1988. This is a cinematic travelogue that features lanky drag queens, BDSM, angry poets, human trafficking, and, of course, Lydia Lunch, who looked absolutely gorgeous laying the groundwork for the weirdness about to unfold for the next eighty minutes. The current generation seems static, though(( Phoebe Legere is a New Yorkbased singer and actress, known for her sensual stage performances while playing the accordion, violin and guitar. Her bestknown song is Marilyn Monroe, which she performs at the beginning of the film
