Making Music with Visually Impaired Youth
Marc Wagnon is a music teacher in New York who works with visually impaired youth. This video shows a performance by the percussion class at the Filomen D Agostino Greenberg School in New York City. The age of the students range from 5 to 12 and are all visually impaired. The players in the video also include volunteers, who come each week to assist the students and have come to enjoy drumming so much that they participate as well. Marc says, teaching method utilizes a technique that involves singing all the rhythms and breaks before playing them. My goal is to develop the listening and coordination skills that playing poly rhythms require. The styles played are Baião and Big round of applause to Marc for this great work he is doing with kids in music
