David Gates and Bread Look at Me (1984 music video from Possible Dreams)
In 1984, I wrote, produced, and shot a half hour TV pilot with Heather Dawn for a show I called Possible Dreams, a Twilight Zoneish anthology loosely adapting Bible stories as scifi and horror tales. The pilot, Fool s Paradise, about an alcoholic cartoonist whose creations are coming to life, costarred the late Tommy Gray as Mr. Cricket, a devilish character who tricks a comic strip character into transitioning over to the real world. The episode includes this musical drunk scene set to a David Bread Gates song, Look at Me (shot on University Ave with actual neighborhood kids taunting the cartoonist). Produced at the Cox Cable TV studio in El Cajon, scenes were filmed around San Diego at Balboa Park, the Ocean Beach caves, Unlimited Auto Parts on University (redressed as both the cartoonist s office and then Cricket s Paradise Bar), and the home of my old friend Lee Echinique, who I met at graphic arts school in the late 70s. Several more episodes were scripted, but never shot. (rokcomx2 s chann
