Norbert Möslang Tusk Festival 2014
Norbert Möslang is a Swiss artist who, since the early 1970s, has been concerned with the exaggeration and distortion of the everyday, be it visual or aural. For 30 years he was one half of the great Voice Crack with compatriot Andy Guhl, drawing sonic eructations from the commonplace, as those of you who saw Peter Liechtis incredible Kick That Habit in TUSK 2013s film programme will know, Voice Crack milking profoundly eruptive sound from little more than a length of steel wire. The duo folded in 2002 but Möslang continues his explorations of the sonic potential of the allaroundus and has begun to reap the acclaim his work is due, Balthazar Lovays sleevenotes to indooroutdoor (Ideologic Organ) including his name in a proud lineage of groundbreaking Swiss artists amongst the likes of Christian Marclay, Celtic Frost and Yello and leaving no doubt that his catalogue is equally important as those of the likes of Whitehouse and The New Blockaders.
