King tells Starmer he hopes for progress on tackling knife crime

The King has told Sir Keir Starmer that he is looking forward to seeing progress on tackling youth violence and knife crime. The monarch told the Prime Minister, Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, and Lisa Nandy, the Culture Secretary, that he would be watching and hoping for progress reports. At a roundtable discussion at St Jamess Palace, Sir Keir assured the King that the Government would work closely with him on this shared ambition and was determined to act. He said: We need to listen to young people, and listen hard. I have been at many events like this where people like me think we know what the answer is, what the cause is, and we dont. One thing that frustrates me a lot is to continually have the same conversation. We have done it in a number of fields. We are not going to do that.
