Hitman from The Wanton Bishops EP Nowhere Everywhere Hitman the song and music video, are an homage to the Lebanese precivil war golden era. Religious godfathers, romantic hitmen, exceptional artists, and shady jetsetters all floating around a Mediterranean paradise in decline. With the war lurking around the corner, and many more wars to follow, these figures can still be found almost intact in todays Lebanon, only greedier, bloodier, and morally bankrupt. Warlords turning into politicians, loyal henchemen into corpses, powerful families dismantled in exile, and a whole generation of disillusioned postwar young men and women longing for a time they only heard about. To contrast with such a dramatic past and present, we decided to go for humour, layers and layers of it, parodies and parodies of parodies, and a general aesthetic that draws straight from the Lebanese and Egyptian movies of the late 60s all through the 70s.
