New Z80 minicomputer It RUNs BASIC
I have been stuck with this project for a very long time due to the fact that I wasn t able to run Microsoft BASIC as modified by Grant Searle to run on his Z80 computers builds described in his excellent site As other programs run correctly as documented in my other videos the fact that BASIC refused to run whatever I tried has baffled me since today when I used my logic probe to casually inspect the status of the SRAM pins as it appeared that the Z80 failed to read from it. Looking at the Address Bus I found that one pin was stuck to LOW without changing status as the program run. Checking upstream in the circuit through the bus buffer to the Z80 itself it appeared that the CPU was keeping that address pin blocked to LOW. Swapping the existing Z80 with a new one finally revealed that all my problems and headaches were due to a faulty With this problem finally resolved I can finally go back to this project with renewed enthusiasm in order to develop this new computer
