Yury Shchurovsky: Little Poem
Shchurovsky (19271996) Soviet and Ukrainian composer and teacher. In 1951 he graduated from the composition department of the Kiev Conservatory in the class of B. N. Lyatoshinsky, in 1954 graduate school. In 1951 he worked in Kiev as editor of the publishing house Mystestvo, in 19511952 head of the musical department of the Kiev Choreographic School, and in 19521955 teacher of theoretical disciplines at the Kiev Conservatory. Author of the ballet Song of Friendship (staged in 1961 in Kharkov ); vocal and symphonic works, including odesovertures Live, Blossom, Soviet State (1982); two symphonies, symphonic poems and overtures; compositions for orchestra of folk instruments; chamber instrumental ensembles; choirs; romances, songs; works for children; music for movies Pavel Korchagin, 1956, Captain of the Old Turtle, 1956, Three days after immortality, 1963 The death of the squadron, 1965, etc.
