September 2021 Elk at Slippery Ann
I decided to go early this year to look for elk at the Slippery Ann Viewing Area on the C. M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge in North Central Montana. This was as early in the season as I have ever gone. Typically I wait until the last week or so of September, but this year I went over the Labor Day Weekend. I was hoping by going early maybe I could beat some of the crowds, but I was wrong. There were already a lot of people out looking as well. I was hoping to go early so maybe I could get some clean audio without all of the typical background noise from the crowds and people driving and everything. But as you can hear, that was not the case. So I decided to not bother trying to clean up the audio at all and just letting it be what it is. I guess this illustrates a more realistic feel for how it is to visit. If you do go visit in person, I hope you do keep in mind that people are there to enjoy nature, so it would be courteous to keep your voices down and your driving back and forth on the road to a minim
