Peace and Safety The core objective of German foreign policy is to maintain peace and safety in the world. Germany counts on using diplomacy and multilateralism to solve crises and conflicts worldwide politically, together with strong partners. ,GERforPeace Germany supports peace and security worldwide. Our actions have a multilateral approach within the framework of the UN, EU, NATO, OSCE and other organizations. We place the emphasis on political solutions to conflicts such as those in Ukraine, Syria or Libya. But we also participate in civilian and military missions organised by the international community. Our work to overcome crises and conflicts as well as to promote peace is based on the fundamental principles of the liberal democratic order: human dignity, civil liberties, the rule of law and the separation of powers.
