Sheila Chandra Taal

This is Sheila Chandra, formerly the lead singer of Monsoon, and a very talented singer in her own right. She is deploying the ancient Indian musical art of toungedrumming, which was used as an oral note sheet , if you will, to remember drum riffs. It is gorgeous, and this is her own take on This is called Taal singing. It s an Indian music form in which the singer creates rhythms with the mouth and tongue mimicking the tabla drums. It takes years of practice to perfect this. (c)
