Eric Lander, professor of biology and president and founding director of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, is MITs James R. Killian Jr. Faculty Achievement Award winner for 20162017. A biologist widely known for his work in mapping the human genome, Professor Lander is recognized by the committee for the transformative effect he has had on the study of biology and medicine, as well as for his roles as a leader, teacher, mentor, and public advocate for science at the highest levels.
