Crawley, West Sussex. Several demonstrations, experiments involving oxygen are seen at the laboratories of Britain s biggest oxygen producer (unnamed). A man wearing goggles uses an oxyacetylene cutter to slice through a slab of metal; sparks fly out. Various shots show a demonstration of a portable oxygen resuscitator; a woman lies on the ground beside a plug socket and plug with a broken wire. A man puts the oxygen mask from the resuscitator over the woman s mouth and nose and she comes round. Other demonstrations show bubbling beakers of oxygen and nitrogen; the nitrogen puts out a flame from a match. Mercury is frozen into a solid block in liquid oxygen; the petals of a rose bud are petrified by the liquid, shattering when touched by a scientist s glove.
