Cockle Women (1948)
Penclaudd near Swansea, Wales. Various shots of women riding on on flat pony carts and donkeys out to the sands in the early morning to collect cockles. They are all bundled up in heavy clothing and headscarves it looks very cold and grey. Several shots of women raking the cockles into sieves and putting them into sacks and pots. One woman, wearing about 50 layers of clothing, flaps her arms about her middle to keep warm. Nice shots of bags of cockles on the pony carts while the women work nearby.
