Boy Driver (1953)

Saltdean, East Sussex. A racing car leaves a garage, driven by a man (Allan Brown ). He is followed by 5yearold Jane Chase in a tiny racing car. She pulls up beside a mechanic who adjusts something in the car, then she drives off. Jane is then lifted out of the car by a Allan Brown and 3yearold John Chase is put into the driving seat. He is shown how to work the controls then drives about. Jane watches. Commentator says She s picking up a few tips from John. Cataloguer s note: in spite of commentator s remark, it is plain to see that Jane can drive perfectly well on her own, and I think this story should have been called Girl Driver Cutting on file calls 3yearold boy Nicholas Chase, not John.
