David Kenyon Webster was an aspiring novelist who volunteered for the airborne to experience the Second World War firsthand. In September 1944, at the age of 22, he fought in Operation Market Garden as a rifleman in Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. Webster put his wartime experiences to paper in Parachute Infantry, a detailed and wellwritten memoir that lay much of the groundwork for the book and television series Band of Brothers that propelled Easy Company into worldwide fame. This special threepart battlefield tour follows in Websters footsteps for the duration of Operation Market Garden. His experiences are placed in a thorough reconstruction of the larger tactical situation and shown on the exact ground where they took place.
