Mars Helicopter Ingenuitys first successful flight (video of lift off and landing)
On April 19, 2021 NASAs Helicopter Ingenuity flown on Mars and Perseverance made video of helicopters successful lift off and landing on the surface of Red Planet. There is also first image from Ingenuitys onboard camera during fly in Marss atmosphere. NASAs Ingenuity Mars Helicopter took this shot while hovering over the Martian surface on April 19, 2021, during the first instance of powered, controlled flight on another planet. It used its navigation camera, which autonomously tracks the ground during flight. Basically Ingenuity Mars Helicopter was built by JPL, which also manages this technology demonstration project for NASA Headquarters. It is supported by NASAs Science Mission Directorate, Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, and Space Technology Mission Directorate. NASAs Ames Research Center and Langley Research Center provided significant flight performance analysis and technical assistance during Ingenuitys development.
