Robert Jenrick Is In A Strong Position To Be Tory Leader, Jenrick Pledges To Leave ECHR
Talks Peter Cardwell is joined by chief political commentator at The Independent, John Rentoul, to discuss Tory leadership hopefuls launching their campaigns. Robert Jenricks key pledge to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) was dismissed as an attempt to provide easy answers by his rival Kemi Badenoch. Meanwhile, shadow home secretary James Cleverly also suggested that promising to leave the ECHR was offering soundbites and quick fixes rather than working to resolve a complex issue. John believes either Kemi Badenoch or Robert Jenrick will become the next Tory leader. Shes a very interesting candidate but Robert Jenrick is in a very strong position, he says.
