Vietnam not imposing nationwide lockdown as fourth COVID 19 wave surges
Vietnam is holding off on a nationwide COVID19 lockdown even as infections soar. The country reported nearly 600 local cases in 26 provinces and cities on May 12. Some provinces have reimposed lockdown orders. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has warned that political stability could be threatened if the outbreak is not contained. Vietnam is also increasing checkpoints and patrol along its borders to prevent illegal entry to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, especially from Cambodia where many Vietnamese are trying to return from.
