Drisa Kone Quartet Sandia

Sandia is also called jelifòli or jelidòn (griots dance). It s a piece from western Mali, region of Kayes, originally played on Khasonka dundun (called dundunba or dundungo in Khasonkaland; also called jelidunun in Bamako). It was transformed into a jembe piece probably in Bamako, perhaps in the 1960s or so.
